Mama Julie’s Keto Country Gravy( AKA White Gravy )

Butter 2-3 Tbsp. – I use either regular Kerrygold or Kerrygold herbed butter but that’s much more expensive.

1 cup onion, diced

1 – 1 ½ lb. Cooked Jimmy Dean Sausage - Regular Flavor

Nutmeg freshly grated – This is your secret ingredient that really kicks this dish up a notch! It is very strong flavor so you only need a little bit. A pinch or two will be fine.

2 Tbsp. garlic, minced

1 tsp. poultry seasoning

1 - 8 oz. block of cream cheese

1 cup of chicken broth

1 cup of heavy cream

Fresh black pepper to taste

Note: I like to keep pre-cooked Jimmy Dean Sausage in my freezer so that I can easily make dishes whenever I want. I buy the really big cylinders of it at Costco and cook up several at one time. This way you cook once and only have to clean once.

Note: Just a little keto pro tip for you. If you look at the nutritional info on the tubs of cream cheese, they have more carbohydrate than the blocks. This is because they add some fillers. You can use either one, but I just want you to know especially if you are watching your carbs really close, this might be an issue for you.

No salt is needed in my opinion due to the sausage being salty. If when done it is too salty for you, go ahead and add in more cream.

Melt your butter in a large skillet or pan. Sauté your onions for several minutes until they have a little color on them. Add in your precooked sausage and remaining ingredients. Allow to cook for several more minutes on medium low until it thickens to the degree that you like !!!

I like to serve this over or with pork chops, on top of scrambled eggs, on low carb biscuits, or on top of creamed cauliflower. If you have another way you like to use country gravy let me know!!!
